STOF - RIBBED CRAZED PLATE

STOF - RIBBED CRAZED PLATE

These pieces are made of a blend of hand-dug clays from around Victoria, hand processed and aged in the artist's Kinglake studio. These pieces are made from porcelain fired to 1300c in a reduction atmosphere. The blue colour once again comes from the degassing of iron oxide in an oxygen deprived kiln atmosphere. Achieving the perfect glaze thickness and application is exceptionally challenging, as it must be precisely controlled to the millimetre, too thick and the glaze will run off the pot onto the kiln shelving, too thin and the glaze will appear colourless and dull.

  • Pieces are to be hand washed and not placed in a dishwasher.
  • Do not subject to rapid or extreme temperature changes,  actively boiling hot water should not be poured directly onto any surface.
  • Staining over prolonged use of celadon pieces is normal and completely food safe.
  • These glazes are food and liquid safe, the blue comes form iron, not from copper or cobalt.
